Our History

Calvary Tabernacle was founded by Rex and Cheryl Williams in the Fall of 1986, under the Home Missions department of the Virginia District UPCI. In March of 1987 Pastor Williams held his first service in his home. In attendance was his wife, Cheryl, their three children, a local lady from the community and a visiting family from Mississippi.

In 1989, Calvary Tabernacle's first sanctuary, a small brick building was completed. A few years later the church went into a new building program which included the addition of Sunday school classrooms, a larger sanctuary, and a fellowship hall.

Pastor Williams continued pursuing the vision God had given him for Calvary Tabernacle. Within a few years, 15 acres of land was purchased to build a Family Life Center and a new sanctuary. The Family Life Center was completed in 2009. Within a short time a playground was erected, in honor of Addison Vance Mina. Addison’s Park is open to the community.

Because of the blessings and provision of God, in 2013 our new sanctuary was completed allowing us to move into a state of the art facility, with plenty of room to grow!

In the past 36 years of Calvary Tabernacle, many lives have been changed by the power of the Holy Ghost.   We invite you to come and be apart of what God is doing!

We desire to make a difference in our community as we continue preaching and teaching the Word of God, leading to salvation, healing and deliverance.
— Pastor Rex Williams, Lead Pastor of Calvary Tabernacle
